Livingston skier Shona Brownlee is going for gold at the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games, which get underway on Saturday in Beijing.
Shona, who was awarded an MBE last year as well as being named RAF Sportswoman of the Year for her contributions to armed forces para snowsport, is considered a medal hopeful in her first Games.
She has enjoyed remarkable success since first taking up the sport four years ago and is the reigning British champion across all disciplines of para-alpine skiing in her female sitting category.
West Lothian Council’s Executive councillor for culture and leisure Andrew McGuire wished Shona well in China, saying: “Good luck to West Lothian’s own Shona Brownlee at the upcoming Paralympic Winter Games.
“The former Deans Community High School pupil is a huge inspiration to all, and I know everyone in West Lothian will be fully behind her bid for medal success in Beijing.”
