West Lothian weightlifter Alice Aitchison has been selected to represent Team Scotland at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
It’s a first Commonwealth Games nod for the Broxburn-trained athlete, who will be competing in the 71kg category.
A fine performance at the recent British Championships, where she gained a bronze medal, helped cement Alice’s place in the squad for the event.
She spoke of her sense of pride at receiving the call, commenting: “I can’t wait to get to the Games and making the team definitely makes up for the sacrifices I have made to be where I am.
“It’s hard to put into words the sense of pride I feel getting to represent Scotland on the platform in Birmingham this year.”
The weightlifting events will take place at the NEC Arena in Birmingham between June 30 and July 3.
