West Lothian stock car ace picks up maiden win - then makes it a double

Having been unable to secure a win during the 2022 season, it didn’t take Livingston’s Aimee Winfield long to finally get into the winners’ circle at Cowdenbeath in 2023.

And she enjoyed it so much she decided to do it all over again later in the meeting.

Winfield lost time during the opening heat where she ended up in eighth place but when heat two started she made a good start before forcing her way through into the lead.

Once there she drove away from the pack and whilst her lead dwindled a bit as she lapped back marker cars, she was still clear at the finish.

It turned out to be a similar story in the final although this time her lead was only a few car lengths for most of the race. Even under pressure and on a wet and greasy track surface, she held on to win.

Joanne Hilditch was sixth in heat one, ninth in heat two and then fourth in the final.

The Saloon races were fast, hard and with no quarter given. Amongst those in action were Armadale’s Jordan Cassie and Barry Glen of Linlithgow.

On greasy conditions, Cassie dominated and drove from his blue grade start through the field and into the lead during the closing stages to win whilst Glen had to settle for eighth place.

In heat two, Cassie was soon running towards the front of the field but this time had to settle for the runner-up spot with Glen in seventh while in the final he brought his car home in fifth place - just ahead of Cassie.

Despite the conditions, Evie McLellan from Broxburn was in good form in her Micro F2 car.

In heat one she had to settle for fourth place and repeated the result in heat two but a strong run during the final saw her ended up as the runner-up.
