An Aldi shopper in Whitburn, West Lothian has scored two heaped trollies worth £759.64 for himself while earning a record-breaking £1519.28 for a local food bank as part of an Aldi supermarket sweep.
At the beginning of this month, lucky shopper Scott Gibson raced through the Aldi shop in Whitburn to load his trolley full of goods within five minutes. Gibson was chosen for the sweep after entering a competition at Aldi’s tent at Royal Highland Show in June.
Gibson said: “I want to say thanks to Aldi for such a fun evening. When I entered the supermarket sweep competition at the Royal Highland Show, I didn’t expect such a challenge! The staff were so friendly, and I am delighted to have raised such a great amount for the local food bank.”

The supermarket sweep is an Aldi favourite, according to regional managing director for Scotland, Richard Holloway.
“We are proud that the Aldi Supermarket Sweep is a firm favourite across the country, and we are so pleased to have brought it back this year. Congratulations to Scott who managed to raise an incredible £1519.28 for West Lothian Foodbank and snap up a whole load of Aldi treats for himself,” he said.
Gibson was tasked with loading his trolley full of goods for himself to take home. At the end, Aldi guaranteed to donate the total value of the shop to the West Lothian Foodbank. Gibson managed to find the hidden inflatable in the store which doubled the total value of Aldi’s food bank donation.
Kathleen Neilly, West Lothian Foodbank manager, said: “I would like to say thank you to Aldi Scotland for providing us with support during these hard times. All of this donation will be used to buy food to help our local people that's in a crisis.”
