West Lothian police spotted the illegal use of an e-scooter on a footpath in Edinburgh whilst responding to another enquiry.
Road Policing Scotland say that they stopped an individual who was riding on an e-scooter on Queensferry Road.
They say that the person was travelling with no licence, no insurance and was using an unregistered vehicle on a public footpath.
Officers only observed the incident after they had come into the capital to deal with another enquiry.

Police have said that the rider of the e-scooter has since been reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in Edinburgh.
Road Policing Scotland took to Twitter on the morning of Saturday June 11 to alert the public of the stop, they said: “#LivingstonRP were in the Edinburgh area on enquiry when they observed an e-scooter being used on a footpath on Queensferry Road.
“Rider stopped & has been reported to @COPFS for no licence, no insurance & using unregistered vehicle on a footpath (S34(1)(b) RTA 1988).”
E-scooters have been extremely controversial with Police Scotland vowing to clampdown on the anti-social use of the vehicles in the capital.
They have grown popular as a mode of transport, with younger residents in Edinburgh using them regularly to travel around the city.
