A video showing a terrifying ordeal where an elderly woman was robbed in broad daylight by a cold-hearted thief has been circulated on social media.
The pensioner tried to chase the thief and clung onto the car they were trying to escape the scene in. The woman can be seen getting flung to the floor in the footage as the car screeches off with the culprit inside.
The incident is understood to have taken place on Hillview Avenue in Broxburn, West Lothian, on Saturday August 6 at 12:30pm. Police Scotland have confirmed that they have launched a probe into the robbery, the Daily Record reports.

The elderly lady was left lying on her back in the middle of the road as she reacted in shock. She had been put there by the speed of the getaway car flinging her to the ground.
A concerned resident shared the video that is believed to have been captured on their doorbell camera. It shows the interaction between the male thief who was seen pulling into a parking bay on the road and exiting his white Hyundai before approaching the woman.
It looks as though he is asking the woman a question with a piece of paper in his hand. However, as soon as he spots an opportunity he throws himself forward and snatches the woman's bag.
She can be heard screaming as the thug races back to his car and tries to make his getaway. The woman makes a desperate attempt to stop him and opens the passenger door to try and take back her possessions.
The vile crook quickly pulls away as the woman is still holding onto the car. She is knocked to the ground by the impact and a large thud can be heard when she lands as she continues to scream in horror, while her attacker speeds away from the scene.
The woman begins to stand up and shouts for help. She walks into the road and is able to flag down a DPD driver, who stops his van to assist her.
Police Scotland confirmed they attended a report of a robbery on the street and said enquiries were ongoing. It is understood the woman was not seriously injured in the incident.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Around 12.35pm on Sunday, 7 August, 2022, officers were called to a report of a robbery on Hillview Avenue, Broxburn.
"There were no reports of injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
