West Lothian mum influencer has hysterical meltdown outside Smyths toy shop

A West Lothian mum and social media influencer has vented her frustration at the current prices of children’s toys in a humorous video she shared from her car on TikTok.

The user, @roma_0490, was shopping in Smyths toy store for a present for her niece’s fifth birthday.

But she was stunned when she was stung with having to pay £100 for three toys - one of which was a toy plane and two dolls.

The extremely popular LOL dolls were recommended to the doting aunt but she was taken aback when she discovered the price and size of the toys.

She went on to say that the new generation does not know how hard we all had it when we were younger with “hand me down dolls with hair everywhere”, as she yearned for yesteryear when a Barbie doll cost only £8.

During her rant on TikTok, she said: “I’ve just been to Smyths, the toy shop, cause it is my nieces birthday and she is going to five on Thursday, all exciting stuff.

“So I went into Smyths to buy her a birthday present.

“I got told to buy her LOL dolls as they are the ones for a five year old, so I thought I’ll get that fabulous.”

She paused dramatically before adding: “I have just spent over £100 and I’ve got three things, three things! And they are wee things. Over £100 on three LOL dolls.

“It cost £8 for a Barbie when we were wee, now it is £28 for the wee s****y ones.

“Weans don't know how hard we had it when we were wee with hand me down dolls, with hair hanging out everywhere. Not got a clue.”

The video has had over 70,000 views so far.

The TikToker regularly posts videos that she has created from her car and at times can attract millions of views for some of her videos.

A number of the topics relate to real issues that parents face but a number can also be found to relate to problems like fuel prices or buying a home.
