West Lothian Learning Disabilities Forum held special information event

West Lothian Learning Disabilities Forum has held an event at West Lothian College, offering information and signposting for young people and carers.

The theme of the week was ‘We all have Human Rights’, and brought together teams and organisations delivering local services - relevant services included transport, participation, education, health and social care, and managing money.

The information event gave locals the opportunity to find out more about the services in West Lothian that people with disabilies can access.

It was also a chance for people to give feedback on how services for people with disabilities could be improved around West Lothian.

A spokesperson for the West Lothian Learning Disability Forum said: “This was the first large event following the pandemic; we loved seeing so many people come along to find out more about local services.

“This was also a chance for us as a forum, to tell people about how the forum enables people with a learning disability to tell us what they need from local services.

“We would like to say thank you to everyone who came along for information and also to the many teams and organisations who were there to tell people about local initiatives supporting disabled people.”

West Lothian Learning Disability Forum is an independent forum that brings people with learning disabilities together - alongside their carers and families - the forum also provides services supporting disabled people in West Lothian.

The forum is eager to increase its membership to work together with West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership and West Lothian Council to improve local disability services.

The next meeting of the forum will take place on May 25 at 2 pm; interested locals can find more information on the forum’s new Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/WestLothianLDF
