West Lothian driver hit with £100 fine after police spotted their steamy windscreen

A driver in West Lothian was hit with a £100 fine this week after being pulled over by police for the state of their windscreen.

Road Police Scotland issued a warning to other motorists in the area on Thursday evening (December 1) after the BMW driver was quickly caught out.

Heading through Livingston after being late for work, police had pulled over the driver after noticing they had failed to clear the steam from their windscreen.

Severely obstructing their view of the road, the driver was issued with a ticket, three points on their license and a £100 fine.

Reminding others to take time to prepare their vehicle before heading out on the roads this winter, a tweet from Road Policing Scotland read:

"#LivingstonRP stopped this car in Livingston. The driver was late for work and had failed to clear their windscreen.

"Ticket issued, 3 points and £100 fine. #GetReadyForWinter Officers would like to remind motorists to take extra time to prepare their vehicle before setting off."
