West Ham United left-back Emerson has been given the chance to create European history following Roma’s Europa League final defeat to Sevilla on Wednesday night.
Following a 1-1 draw after extra-time in Budapest, a 4-1 victory for Sevilla in a penalty shootout saw them win the Europa League for a record-extending seventh time.
That result means that the Hammers’ Italian international left-back Emerson could become the first player to win all three UEFA club competitions - the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.

Emerson’s former Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham, who now plays up front for Roma, had the chance to enter the currently empty club a week early after winning the Champions League with Chelsea and last season’s Europa Conference League with Roma.
However, Roma not winning leaves the door open for Emerson to achieve the feat, having won both the Champions League and Europa League as a Chelsea player.
Emerson has featured regularly in this season’s Europa Conference League campaign as West Ham have booked themselves a place in the final next Wednesday against Italian side Fiorentina in Prague.
In Europe this season, Emerson has scored once in seven matches, coming in the group stage win over Romanian side FCSB in September.
