David Moyes says Angelo Ogbonna is a player he can trust to step in and perform after the defender’s impressive display in West Ham United’s win over Fulham.
The experienced Italian was one of three changes Moyes made to the Hammers back four on Saturday following their heavy 5-1 loss against Newcastle United at home in midweek, with Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Cresswell also coming in.
Moyes’ changes paid off as West Ham kept a clean sheet at Craven Cottage whilst also picking up all three points after Harrison Reed’s first-half own goal, a victory that puts the Irons 14th - three points clear of the relegation zone.

Ogbonna blocked two shots, made 12 clearances and three key interceptions, according to WhoScored.com, and earned praised from Moyes post-match.
“Angelo has been great, a great player for us over the years and is still being required in terms of performances. He is a really good, experienced player I can trust," Moyes told football.london.
After missing a large chunk of the 2021/22 campaign due to a ruptured cruciate ligament, Ogbonna made his fist appearance in nine months back in August, featuring in both legs of West Ham’s Europa Conference League qualifier against Viborg.
The 34-year-old has made 23 appearances so far this season, 11 of which have come in the Premier League. Ogbonna, who has previously played for Torino and Juventus, is set to be out of contract this summer, although the Italian has previously said he wants to extend his stay at the London Stadium.
