West Ham player ratings vs Newcastle: Dawson scores again as Antonio has another off day

Lukasz Fabianksi - Vital save within minutes of the game starting to deny Joelinton. No chance with the goal, otherwise another solid display. 6

Ryan Fredericks (off 45)- Early mistake to let Joelinton in and a first-half yellow card for the stand-in right-back, had a torrid time throughout before being replaced at the break. 4

Craig Dawson - Superb header to give West Ham the lead, strong at the back winning a number of crucial headers and getting some good blocks in. 7

Kurt Zouma - Put all the noise around him to one side and was West Ham's most comfortable defender, good on the ball picking a number of excellent passes out. 7

Aaron Cresswell - Fantastic delivery for Dawson's goal and a much improved performance after the shocker vs Leicester. 6

Declan Rice - An uncharacteristic error handed Newcastle a way back into the game on the stroke of half-time. Otherwise his usual dominant self in the heart of midfield. 6

Tomas Soucek - Covered every blade of grass as always but did not see much of the ball. Important in defence but offered little going forward. 6

Jarrod Bowen - Forced Dubravka into a brilliant first-half save as he smashed an effort on goal, otherwise a quiet afternoon for the in-form man. 6

Pablo Fornals - Gave the ball away on a number of occasions and infuriated his manager as a result. Got better as the game went on but only marginally. 5

Said Benrahma (off 73) - Played higher than usual and linked up well with Antonio in the first half. Faded when moved to the left and offered little. He was visbly disappointed to be taken off. 5

Michail Antonio - Won the free-kick that led to Dawson's goal and held the ball up well in the first half but tired as the game went on. Lacked a cutting edge as shown by his awful 70th-minute effort over the bar that left Moyes shaking his head. 4

Subs:

Ben Johnson (on 45) - A huge improvement on the poor Fredericks, looked far more defensively solid and pushed on well. 6

Nikola Vlasic (on 73) - Had little impact on the game. 6
