West Ham player ratings vs Liverpool: Hammers rue missed opportunities from Lanzini and Fornals

Lukasz Fabianksi - Indecisive for Sadio Mane's goal after making an excellent early save to deny Mohamed Salah. 5

Ben Johnson - Got forward at times but struggled with keeping Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson quiet. 6

Craig Dawson - Put his body on the line on a number of occasions, taking one square in the face as a prime example. Continued in the same vein in the second half getting in numerous blocks. Struggled with the pace of Liverpool's attackers. 7

Kurt Zouma - West Ham's best defender once again, another solid display from the French international. 7

Aaron Cresswell - Recovered well from a slow start that saw Salah bear down on Fabianski. Was unable to get forward but solid in defence. 6

Tomas Soucek - Had a huge defensive responsibility in the absence of Declan Rice and worked his socks off. Should have had an assist with a fantastic cross for Lanzini. 7

Pablo Fornals (off 90) - Worked ridiculously hard but will rue his wasted first-half opportunity when he tried to be too cute with his finish. 6

Manuel Lanzini - Worked hard throughout, really put in a shift to help out his defenders. Looked the best West Ham player on the ball and comfortable in both his roles but as with Fornals his performance will be overshadowed by a huge miss. With only Alisson to beat from close range the Argentine skied his effort when it looked easier to score. 8

Nikola Vlasic (off 62) - Played a couple of nice passes into Antonio and showed good strength at times, just missing a cutting edge. 6

Jarrod Bowen (off 53) - Injury brought an early end to the attacker's evening and will be a real worry for West Ham ahead of the trip to Sevilla. Had a good chance to get the Hammers level but took too long before shooting and allowed Robertson to block, an incident that appeared to lead to his injury. 5

Michail Antonio - A bright start from the striker who tested Alisson early on, wasteful as the game wore on. 6

Subs:

Said Benrahma (on 53) - Looked bright after his introduction and found some good positions even if his teammates did not find him. 7

Mark Noble (on 62 ) - Rolled back the years with a sumptuous pass to Antonio who wasted the chance, looked tidy on the ball. 7

Daniel Chesters (on 90) - n/a
