West Ham United came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.
An own goal from Thilo Kehrer had given Spurs the lead in the first half, with Tomas Soucek levelling the contest in the second half to give the Hammers their first home goal and first home point of the Premier League season.
Here is how football.london’s West Ham United writer Jonty Colman rated the Hammers’ players against Spurs.

Lukasz Fabianski
Fresh off his first clean sheet of the campaign away at Aston Villa on Sunday, Lukasz Fabianski had little to do in terms of making saves against Spurs. Solid to save the half chances that came his way and there was little he could do to stop Kehrer's own goal, with Spurs going on one of their trademark counter-attacking runs and converting from point-blank range. Did get low brilliantly late on to meet a Harry Kane volley. 7
Vladimir Coufal
Following a recent concussion absence, Vladimir Coufal was back in the starting line-up with Ben Johnson sidelined through injury. After impressing off the bench in Sunday's win away at Villa Park, Coufal started at right-back, with David Moyes starting in a 5-2-1-2 formation at Villa, a system he scrapped at half-time. An okay first half showing, although his crosses from the right were unable to create any real chances for his colleagues. Really clever thinking for Soucek's goal, running to take a throw-in quickly that found Michail Antonio, who teed up Soucek for the equaliser. 7
Thilo Kehrer
Kehrer had really impressed in the middle of defence next to Zouma at Aston Villa and the duo partnered each other again against Spurs. It was a solid first half display, but when he inadvertently turned in his own net at the end of a Son Heung-min cross, it really took the sting out of the momentum West Ham were building against one of their arch rivals. Like the defeat to Brighton on his full debut, did little wrong barring the own goal, although against the Seagulls it was giving a penalty away, but his error did prove costly. Really solid again after the break, able to close down Kane and Son well when Spurs did get sights of joy going forward. 6
Kurt Zouma
Star of the show at Villa, Spurs' attacking hopes going forward were largely stopped by the positioning, reactions and defensive know-how of Kurt Zouma. West Ham's best in the first half, he kept himself in good positions to attempt to nullify the attack, even after colliding the post early on when attacking a Jarrod Bowen corner. Again imperious after the break, really led the defensive line well, just consistently looks solid in the air and again, took a whack for his troubles, something he was able to get through. 7
Aaron Cresswell
Aaron Cresswell was back at left-back after starting as a wide centre-back against Villa. Got a lifeline when a Harry Kane header inside the opening 15 minutes hit his hand in the penalty area, initially given as a penalty kick before it was overturned after VAR. Struggled to deal with Dejan Kulusevski in the first half, but got more of a foothold on his Swedish opponent after the break. Taken off with 20 minutes to spare, with Angelo Ogbonna replacing him. 5
Declan Rice
Declan Rice was captaining the Hammers once again as he made his 200th first-team appearance for the club, a mark of the rise he has been on in recent years. Rice came close to opening the scoring in the first half when firing a left-footed effort from range on the bounce at goal, forcing Hugo Lloris into action. Really direct with his passing, allowing West Ham to get forward and have a go at a Tottenham side who have yet to taste defeat this season in the league. Tough in his tackling, although he did get away with a late lunge on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on the stroke of half-time. 7
Tomas Soucek
Having looked the most likely to score out of West Ham's whole squad all season, Soucek got a deserved first league goal of the campaign in the second half, latching on goal with a hammering finish after great Antonio hold up play. Had a quiet first half but was more involved after the break, with West Ham showing real tempo and an aggression to get at their London rivals. Almost got a second in the last seconds off a Bowen cross, but he was unable to get the final touch. 7
Jarrod Bowen
He is still off his best, but that was his best showing in a league game. Wasted an early chance, but pressed really well and always threatened on the counter attack. Latched onto a blocked Richarlison clearance late on to tee up Soucek and Antonio superbly, but neither of them could quite get there. Before that, he was unable to steer on target an awkward volley off a deflected Soucek cross. 6
Said Benrahma
Playing a key role in changing the game in the second half at Villa, Benrahma was rewarded with a return to the starting side, occupying the central attacking midfield role behind Antonio up front. Linked up well early on with Pablo Fornals, setting up a chance for his Spanish colleague that forced a save out of Spurs captain Hugo Lloris. The duo then combined again before Benrahma's quick pass found Antonio, whose shot was denied only by the post. Really quiet after the break and replaced by Lucas Paqueta for a debut in the second half. 6
Pablo Fornals
Spaniard Pablo Fornals was on the left of the three in attacking midfield and looked really promising early on, forcing a save out of Hugo Lloris and then part of a move that saw Antonio hit the post. Flashed a volley, which he ran onto, over the bar in the second half, but battled throughout and really put himself in the fight before being taken off with minutes to go. 7
Michail Antonio (Star man)
Antonio worked his socks off up front, his best showing by a clear mile so far this season in place of Gianluca Scamacca, who was absent due to a virus. Pressed and got joy making life difficult for Spurs. A really good assist for Soucek when holding the ball up off a Coufal throw-in and teeing up Soucek. Hit the post in the first half and almost snatched a late winner, but was unable to meet Bowen's cross. 7
Substitutes
Lucas Paqueta
Just over 48 hours ahead of kick-off, West Ham completed the signing of Lucas Paqueta in a transfer that could become a club-record fee after add-ons. He was named on the bench for the all-London affair and was introduced in the second half. His early touches and tackle got the fans right on his side, getting himself an obligatory chant within minutes of coming on. Had a great chance of a debut goal when Coufal's cross went towards him, although he and Emerson left it for each other, with neither shooting. Booked for a foul on Emerson Royal, but showed plenty of energy, considering the rushed schedule he had ahead of kick-off. 5
Angelo Ogbonna
There was a 20 minute run out for Angelo Ogbonna as a left-back, his first Premier League outing of the season after missing most of last-term with a major knee injury. Defended solidly and almost created a golden chance late on when Richarlison's clearance cannoned off him and fell to Bowen. 6
Emerson
Came on in an attacking role with just over five minutes to go. He and Paqueta had a mix-up when either could have shot late on. Booked for a coming together with Richarlison. N/A
