Teddy Sheringham has warned West Ham’s owners that a lack of ambition in the summer transfer window could push Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen out the door.
The Hammers made no signings in the January transfer window despite manager David Moyes needing reinforcements in key areas, with the club going on to lose in the semi-finals of the Europa League to Eintracht Frankfurt and finish seventh in the Premier League, qualifying for the Europa Conference League next season.
But while West Ham fans will be proud their side reached the last four of a major European competition and qualified for continental football again next year - something they could have only dreamt of achieving just a few seasons ago - there is still a sense the club might have accomplished even more had they received the right backing in the winter transfer window.
