West Ham move for Noussair Mazraoui collapses as Manchester United plot swoop

West Ham's move for Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui has collapsed.

The Hammers are in the market for a new right-back this summer, amid interest in Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and on Thursday agreed a fee with the German giants for Mazraoui.

West Ham agreed a deal worth around £16million for Moroccan, and subsequent reports claimed Mazraoui had agreed to the switch in principle.

However, 24 hours later, the deal has collapsed after an agreement with the player's agent could not be reached. The Hammers have walked away from negotiations.

Man United could now move for Mazraoui, who previously worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, but only if they are able to find a buyer for Wan-Bissaka, who has just a year left on his contract at Old Trafford.

It is another frustrating transfer window tale for Julen Lopetegui and West Ham, who also agreed a loan deal wth Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo, only for the player to show reluctance. A bid for N'Golo Kante was also rejected by Al-Ittihad.

Lopetegui will now go back to the drawing board in search of a new right-back, thought it remains to be seen if Wan-Bissaka remains a target. Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters has also been linked.
