West Ham United have made a bid to sign Chelsea left-back Emerson this summer on a permanent deal.
football.london understands that the Hammers have submitted a bid to sign the Italian international defender on a permanent deal to compete for minutes alongside Aaron Cresswell at left-back. Emerson has had his chances of minutes at left-back restricted following the £55million signing of Marc Cucurella, with England international Ben Chilwell also competing alongside him for minutes.
The Hammers only have Aaron Cresswell as a natural option in that role following the loan exit of Arthur Masuaku to Turkish side Besiktas earlier this summer

The Hammers remain focussed on signing a new centre-back in time for Sunday’s Premier League tie against Brighton at the London Stadium, with Ben Johnson having to partner Kurt Zouma at centre-back in the defeats to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.
Summer signing Nayef Aguerd is not expected to return to action until mid-October after suffering an ankle injury in pre-season. Craig Dawson is also currently sidelined with a thigh issue while Angelo Ogbonna is slowly working towards a return from a long-term knee injury sustained last November.
On Sunday night, Hammers goalkeeper Joseph Anang joined League One side Derby County on loan for the duration of the 2022/23 Premier League season.
