West Ham injury latest on Danny Ings, Kurt Zouma, Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet

West Ham United manager David Moyes has provided injury updates on four of his players ahead of facing Derby County in the FA Cup.

The Hammers head to Pride Park on Monday night and manager Moyes is set to be without four key players for the fourth round tie.

Striker Danny Ings has a knee injury suffered just seconds after making his debut against Everton last Saturday.

Ings was already ruled out of the game having already played in the competition for Aston Villa this season, but Moyes is hoping his return will be imminent.

“Unfortunately, Danny has picked up an injury which was in the first 15/20 seconds of the game, we don’t think it’s bad but he was cup tied for this week anyway, so we’ve got a little bit of grace in that,” said Moyes.

“Hopefully, he’s not going to miss too much. He’s had an injection in his knee and hopefully, he will get himself back ready to go quite quickly.”

Also suffering an injury in that game was French centre-back Kurt Zouma in what was his first appearance in two months after undergoing knee surgery at the end of November.

In the first half, Zouma sustained an injury to his hip, although West Ham’s medical staff are waiting for the swelling to go down before it can be assessed.

“Kurt’s been a little bit up and down with his knee and he’s just picked up a little bit of an injury. I’m hoping that he’s not too bad,” Moyes explained.

“Kurt has got like a hip adductor type injury, he got it when overstretching and he flicked his foot to the right, which we think tweaked it. He got it in the first half but he’s played through it. His thigh has swollen badly at the top so we think there’s a small tear but we’re not sure yet.

“We have to wait until all of the blood goes away and it all sort of dies down. We will know between when that all dies down which is obviously another huge blow because we were just getting him back and when get a decent result with him in the team."

Striker Gianluca Scamacca missed the game after suffering a knee injury earlier this month, with Moyes saying last week that Scamacca had to undergo three weeks of injections before his return.

Moyes said the forward is doing okay after the £30.5million arrival recently hinting that he is getting closer to a return to the squad.

“Gianluca is fine, he’s had his second PRP injection,” Moyes told football.london .

“I think he’s due to take his third one next Wednesday so my feeling is he’s doing okay. He’s got his third to go on Wednesday.”

Meanwhile, winger Maxwel Cornet has missed almost four months of action with a calf injury sustained on his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers on October 1.

Cornet has recently spent time in France seeing a specialist and is due to return to the club’s Rush Green training ground on Monday for an assessment. All being well, the aim is for the Ivory Coast international to return to training shortly after.

“Cornet has been back in France seeing a specialist for probably three or four weeks now. I’m hoping to have him back here on Monday and we will see where he is come Monday,” added Moyes.

“It would be great. I don’t know if he’s going to walk in the building and sort of get his gear out and go training right away to be honest but the fact of the matter is, we hope he is going to be.

“Even that, we think he’d probably need at least a couple of weeks training before we are even getting close. That’s the problem with it.”
