West Dunbartonshire councillors observed a one minutes silence at the end of their budget meeting to show their respect and solidarity with Ukrainian citizens.
Members were asked to stand and contemplate what is happening in Europe, by Depute Provost Karen Conaghan at the meeting on Wednesday, exactly two weeks after Russia launched its full-scale attack on Ukraine.

Various reports from the front line suggest that up to 5000 Russian soldiers have been killed with 2000 to 4000 Ukrainian troops also killed in combat.
Hospitals and schools have also been targeted by Russian airstrikes while more than two million people flee to neighbouring European countries.
At the end of Wednesday’s budget meeting, West Dunbartonshire Councillors and council officers observed a minute's silence to remember those who had tragically lost their lives as a result of the war.
Depute Provost councillor Karen Conaghan said: “Before we end the meeting I have had a request that we take a moment to pause and remember those who have lost their lives so far as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.
“Councillor Sally Page had asked me about that earlier but unfortunately I didn’t get the email at the start of the meeting so I would ask that we take a minute just to stand and contemplate what’s happening there, the effect it is having on innocent civilians and to pray that conflict comes to an end soon.”
