Ahead of Thursday’s solitary EFL Championship clash, we have the West Brom vs Burnley preview, prediction, latest team news and predicted lineups.
West Brom Vs Burnley Preview
West Brom
Promotion-chasing West Brom’s poor home form will be put to the test once again as they get set to take on Burnley this evening.
In fact, Carlos Corberan’s side hasn’t won in their last seven EFL Championship fixtures. You have to go back to September 21 for their last victory.
Most alarmingly, West Brom have scored just two goals at the Hawthorns all season. They are on their worst run of form since suffering relegation from the Premier League in 2021.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom in B71. Despite the worrying lack of goals and wins, Corberan’s side can move back up to fourth this evening.
A victory will see them leapfrog tonight’s visitors in the table but that is easier said than done. The Baggies looked on course for all three points at Luton last time out thanks to Josh Maja’s 8th goal of the season.
The Hatters were able to hit back via Tahith Chong which ensured a share of the spoils at Kenilworth Road. Nonetheless, securing all three points will be pivotal against Burnley if Corberan is to ease the pressure on himself.
It's matchday, Baggies! 👊

Burnley
Similar to their hosts, Burnley are in the midst of a small purple patch of late. The Clarets haven’t tasted victory in their last three outings and have scored just once in that run.
That goal came via Zian Flemming in a 1-1 draw against Hull on October 23. Their last two fixtures saw Scott Parker’s side held 0-0 by QPR before slipping to a 1-0 defeat to Millwall on Sunday.
Parker won’t be too concerned by his side’s small winless streak. After all, the Lancashire club has invested their trust in a manager who has secured top-flight promotion in recent years with Bournemouth and Fulham.
A win on Thursday will go along way in reminding fans of Parker’s credentials at this level. Furthermore, the Clarets do have recent history on their side.
In the last five meetings against West Brom, Parker’s side has won twice and drawn the remainder. You have to go back to 2017 for the last time that the Clarets suffered a defeat.
Scott Twine was the hero last time out. The midfielder scored a last-gasp free-kick to give Burnley a 2-1 win in January 2023.
West Brom Vs Burnley Team News
The main area of concern for West Brom is in the centre of defence. First choice duo Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi are both missing via injury. So to is Paddy McNair.
Therefore, Everton loanee Mason Holgate and Norwegian international Torbjørn Heggem are set to fill the void. Darnell Furlong will occupy right-back with Callum Styles set for his second appearance of the season on the left.
England U21 international Tom Fellows and Josh Maja are the main source of goals. Between them, they have eight goals and six assists this season.
For Burnley, Lyle Foster is likely to miss out as he recovers from a knee problem. The same can be said for midfielder Aaron Ramsey who is also nearing a return after injury.
The likes of Nathan Redmond (knee), Manuel Benson (calf) and Mike Tresor (leg) are also set to be absent. This leaves Scott Parker limited for attacking options.
That duty will therefore fall to local lad Jay Rodriguez. The one-cap England forward actually played for West Brom between 2017-2019.
West Brom Vs Burnley Predicted Lineups
West Brom (4-2-3-1): Palmer; Furlong, Holgate, Heggem, Styles; Molumby, Mowatt; Fellows, Swift, Grant; Maja
Burnley (4-2-3-1): Trafford; Roberts, Egan-Riley, Esteve, Humphreys; Brownhill, Cullen; Koleosho, Sarmiento, Anthony; Rodriguez
West Brom Vs Burnley Prediction
The lack of goals in recent outings for both sides is likely to continue this evening in what we are predicting to be a cagey, low-scoring affair.
West Brom will be happy just to see the back of the net bulge whereas Burnley will value a decent point on the road against a promotion rival.
Therefore, it is wise to expect a Hawthorns stalemate.
Prediction: West Brom 1-1 Burnley
