West Bengal: App cab driver killed in accident

KOLKATA: A 22-year-old app cab driver died when he lost control over his vehicle and rammed into a stationary bus of route 211 parked on Rajarhat Main Road at Langolpota, around 10 kms from Vedic Village on Sunday afternoon. He was returning to his Atghara home after observing Eid at a relative’s place in Sashon.

There was no passenger in the cab. Such was the impact of the accident that the vehicle was reduced to a mangled mass and the driver, Maqsud Ali Gazi, had to be pulled out by cops and locals cutting open the door with an iron rod and shovel. He was taken to a local hospital and from there to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by an attending doctor.
