West Belfast incident sees stones and masonry thrown at Glider causing damage

Stones and masonry were thrown at a Glider in West Belfast causing damage and resulting in the service being reduced on Sunday night.

It's reported the criminal damage happened on the Stewartstown Road shortly before 7pm on January 30.

Police say the cost of repair will be extensive and that the risk of injuring staff and passengers was high.

A PSNI post read: "West Belfast neighbourhood policing team are unfortunately dealing with another incident of criminal damage caused to a Glider on Stewartstown Road this evening (Sunday 30th January) at 6:50pm.

"Stones and masonry were thrown from the new park area onto the Stewartstown Road which struck the vehicle a number of times including the windscreen.

"The cost of repair will be extensive and the risk of injuring staff and passengers was high. The service has now been reduced this evening which impacts the community.

"We are appealing for witnesses. Please report any information via 101 or in an an emergency 999.
