Wesley Fofana drops injury news hint in cryptic Chelsea message as Graham Potter handed verdict

Wesley Fofana has hinted that he could be back in action for Chelsea sooner rather than later. In early October, the 21-year-old defender suffered a knee strain in the Blues' Champions League clash against AC Milan.

He was forced to depart from proceedings in the first-half of the bout, just moments after scoring his first goal for the club. The France youth international left Stamford Bridge on crutches, and he automatically became a great doubt for the World Cup.

In a bid to regain full fitness ahead of the tournament, Fofana was flown out to Dubai with Reece James to continue recovery and rehabilitation. The Frenchman seems to be on the right track, too, after posting an update on his knee injury to social media.

Fofana uploaded a photo to his Snapchat story of his right foot, two trainers on a grey floor and an orange football boot with yellow accents. In the image, which is captioned with 'Done' and a green tick emoji, a strip of blue can be seen in the top right-hand corner.

The defender's post drops a huge hint amid his road to recovery, suggesting a number of promising signs. Whether Fofana has completed the next stage of his rehabilitation, completed a fitness test, participated in training for the first team since the knock or just decided to boast about his array of footwear, there is no confirmation of the stage in recovery he is currently at.

Following Fofana's injury against the Italian giants, Graham Potter was hopeful that his knock wasn't as bad as first thought. Speaking to the press, the Blues boss said: "Wesley's knee's not as bad as we thought after the game, so that's good because it was a cause for concern at the time, but it will still be a few weeks, I think.

"It's considerably better than it could be, but he will obviously be missing for a few weeks. It's just a knee strain, so there's a possibility we might see him play again before the World Cup.

"It depends on how his rehab goes, I don't want to put too much of a timescale on it, but there's a chance of that."
