Wesley Fofana has admitted that he wants to be the best defender in the world and compete for top trophies, something that Chelsea can help him aim for with the platform and security they can provide.
The Blues are very busy in the transfer market as their Premier League campaign kicks off this week against Everton. Marc Cucurella's addition means that five new players have been added to Thomas Tuchel's squad. But three more are being targeted to take the spending up towards the £300million mark. One of those targets is Leicester star Fofana who is reportedly open to the move.
The latest on the deal is that the Blues' second bid of around £70million was turned down by Brendan Rodgers and the Foxes board as they hold out for £80million which is a figure near his 'valuation.' Fofana himself has already dropped many social media hints to indicate his preference that he would like the chance to move on this summer, and he has outlined his ambition to make the French World Cup squad before going on to become one of the best players in the world - something Brendan Rodgers said was possible for the young star.

"I'd be lying if I said the World Cup wasn’t on my mind, because it’s a big objective for me," he told The Telegraph. "I'm French and of course I want to represent my national team. I realise the coach has his own ideas and a team already in place but I really want to be there. Every player has to work hard - if they are a little lazy for their club, they will be left out.
"When he [Rodgers] said that it obviously adds extra pressure but it has to be the aim for any player. I want to not only win trophies but try to be the best defender in my position in the world."
What better place to make that stake than Chelsea? A club that is full of International stars performing at the highest level, especially in defence. Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly are Senegal regulars; Thiago Silva still plays for Brazil and has been one of the best defenders in the world over the last decade; Cesar Azpilicueta, Reece James and Ben Chilwell also important members of their respective national sides.
Playing alongside the likes of Koulibaly and Silva could fast-track that dream into becoming more of a reality quicker.
