'We're not a developer': council backs mayor's affordable housing plan

Labor mayor Adam Shultz's plan to explore using Lake Macquarie City Council-owned land for affordable housing was endorsed by councillors, despite early scepticism along party lines.

Cr Shultz's mayoral minute on Monday night called for the council to open up expressions of interest for community housing providers to develop vacant land at Cardiff and Booragul.
