Welsh takeaway offers Smithy's huge curry order from Gavin and Stacey and the response is brilliant

An Indian takeaway in Cardiff is offering Smithy's huge order from BBC's Gavin and Stacey as a meal deal and the reaction online is brilliant. On their website, Meghna Balti Express on Four Elms Road, in Adamsdown, has "Smithy’s Indian Takeaway!" listed as a set meal on their menu in an ode to the iconic scene in the show.

For £36 you could get a Chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna, prawn bhuna, mushroom rice (large), bag of chips, keema naan and nine poppadoms and saag aloo, just as Smithy ordered on the show. Anyone who has seen the hit show - the second episode of the third series to be exact - will remember the scene.

It became famous in the show for showing the reality of ordering a takeaway for a big group of people - and the "to share or not to share" debate.

"I can guarantee someone, probably Stacey, will have ordered a korma, am I wrong - Mick, am I wrong? And in my book a korma is pointless... It's futile. I won't touch it," he ranted. "But I can guarantee Pete's eyeing up my Bhunas. Am I wrong? Pete, Have you though about my bhunas?

"They're MY bhunas. If you want a bhuna order a bhuna that's why I've ordered two bhunas." In the end , Smithy refuses to share his food with anyone and decides to eat his order alone in his car. And the offering from Meghna Balti Express has gone down a treat with viewers, with people posting online about visiting to get the iconic order. The takeaway has a five-star rating from more than 600 reviews on the Just Eat website and offers delivery and collection.

A photo of the offering was shared into a Gavin and Stacey fans and quotes Facebook group and has more than 500 reactions, 170 comments and nearly 30 shares. And the comments were full of fans looking to get their hands on the order. While you'll be able to buy each component of the iconic order at most Indian takeaways, the novelty of getting it all in one deal has fans excited.

Quoting clips from the scene underneath the post, one person said: "IF YOU WANT A BHUNA, ORDER A BHUNA" and another added "this is my dish. I ordered it. I’m eating it."
