Wales' four professional sides will react to rugby's economic downturn by cutting the size of their squads for next season with a salary cap on the verge of being introduced.
Both the Welsh Rugby Union and the four regions have accepted player wages are too high across the board and must be pushed down to avoid a similar fate as the one which befell both Wasps and Worcester Warriors, who recently entered administration.
The Professional Rugby Board, which runs the men's pro game in Wales, is also considering implementing a salary cap which would come into play during the financial year of 2025 (rugby's financial year ends on June 30 each season).
