A popular pub near the coast in west Wales is so desperate for staff it's offering people a £500 bonus on top of their wages just to work there. The Golden Lion in Newport, Pembrokeshire, has made the offer due to an expectation of being "very busy" over the coming months.
The pub is situated in the centre of the village of Newport, a short distance from the local beach and other attractions including the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The village is gearing up for its peak season, when thousands of tourists from across Wales and the rest of the UK flock to the area for their summer holidays. With that in mind, management at The Golden Lion are offering staff a handsome hiring bonus if they work an average of 35 hours a week over a 10-week period. The bonus will also be paid to existing staff who work at the pub which, as well as being a popular drinking venue, has a restaurant and adjoined accommodation. The pub made WalesOnline's 'Best pubs in Wales' list for 2023, which you can see here.
