Welsh contestant Ioan Jones has secured his place in the final eight of Masterchef with judge Gregg Wallace promising “lots more to come” in the competition. The Ruthin cook said that he felt like he was "going to faint” as he made it to the next stage of the popular cookery show.

During the episode on Tuesday, April 26, the semi-finalists had to create a three-course menu that they would be proud to serve in their own restaurant. The chefs set out to impress not only the judges but also, 20 past Masterchef quarter-finalists - all of whom have gone on to have full-time careers in the food industry.

The 38-year-old marketing manager’s previous dishes have been described as "ambitious" and "classic with a twist’" Following his chocolate dessert at an earlier stage in the competition, Gregg Wallace questioned: “What else does he have up his sleeve?"
