The Scottish SPCA has warned members of the public to stop taking fox cubs into their homes after a family kept one they believed was a kitten.
Animal welfare bosses say they dealt with countless cases of people unnecessarily separating cubs from their families last Spring, resulting in the charity having to hand rear cubs for months at a time.
As well as the cub being mistaken for a kitten, another fox was brought into someone's home just a mere hour after being found in a garden. Members of the public have been asked to wait and observe the animals to avoid unnecessary admissions to their National Wildlife Rescue Centre.
