The well-known training tower of Whitchurch Fire Station has been demolished.
The tower had become a well-known part of the landscape of North Cardiff since it was constructed in 1955, but it has now been demolished due to structural problems and to make way for a new USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) base.
A planning application for the demolition of the tower submitted to Cardiff council was granted planning permission in July 2021.
