Cillian Murphy’s character ‘Tommy Shelby’ is being tipped to bite the bullet in the new series.
As season six of Peaky Blinders makes its much-anticipated return to our TV screens this Sunday, Paddy Power is betting that lead character Tommy Shelby will meet his end in the upcoming series.
According to the bookie, Cillian Murphy could find himself out of the job very soon as his character is short odds (5/2) to be killed off.
It’s highly unlikely Cork-born actor Cillian will switch the streets of Birmingham for the role of James Bond should he find himself at a loose end, as Murphy’s co-star Tom Hardy has far shorter odds (5/1) to take over from Daniel Craig as the next 007.
Speaking on the odds, a Spokesman for Paddy Power said: “Life without the Shelby’s on our TV screens won’t be the same. So, once the series is over, I think I’ll head out, get a dodgy haircut and demand an important family meeting.
“And I’m sure I won’t be alone. With the Cheltenham Festival fast approaching, we expect to see every Tom, Dick and Harry showing up in their best matching flat caps and tweed in tribute.”
Season five ended with Tommy screaming while holding up a pistol to his head.
It comes as the cast of Peaky Blinders attended a special premiere event at Cineworld in Birmingham on Thursday, ahead of the sixth and final series of the drama airing on BBC One this Sunday.
Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy - who was not present at last night's premiere due to filming commitments for Christopher Nolan's upcoming biopic Oppenheim in America.
Helen McCrory - who played Polly Gray in the series was sadly missing from the Peaky Blinder’s event.
The talented actress sadly passed away in 2021 at the age of 52 following a secret battle with cancer.
Cillian Murphy later confirmed that Helen McCrory did not get a chance to film any scenes before her passing.
To celebrate Season Six, Paddy Power have several special bet promotions ahead of the forthcoming season.
