The future of 2023 Sixth Man of the Year award winner Malcolm Brogdon will be a hot topic this offseason following his disappointing performance in the Eastern Conference finals.
The focus is on his injured elbow, and The Athletic NBA insider Jared Weiss reports Brogdon may not be going under the knife this offseason. The new report, which breaks down the optimism of the Boston Celtics’ guard to avoid surgery on his injured elbow tendon, also details how he hopes to be a team member this fall for the new season.
Brogdon initially injured his elbow in Game 1 against the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference finals. The former Virginia player sat out Games 2 and 6 and was never genuinely healthy in the series.
Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in his first season with Boston. He accepted a bench role after spending most of his career as a starter. He saw a slight dip in production during the postseason and was a shell of himself throughout the series loss to Miami.
