BHOPAL: This has been one of the wettest winters in Madhya Pradesh on record, leading to prolonged chilly weather across the state. While people in Bhopal and Indore may marvel at the 'Shimla-like' weather this winter, in some places, like Rajgarh on January 9, the rainfall has been a whopping 17,500% surplus, ruining crops.
January 7-9 saw the heaviest spells of rain in many parts of Madhya Pradesh. "There were back-to-back western disturbances, causing rain and hail in the state. These weather conditions were followed by cold waves," a senior scientist at the city office of India Meteorological department (IMD) said.
