‘Weird stuff happens’: U.S. sailor heading to clear Iranian mines in Strait of Hormuz was taken out of action by a monkey attack

A U.S. sailor who was part of a group heading to the Strait of Hormuz for anti-mine operations was scratched by a monkey during a stop in Phuket, Thailand. The unexpected incident led to the sailor being medically evacuated and taken to Japan for further care and treatment.

According to The Independent, the sailor received initial medical treatment before being transferred to Japan. Military officials confirmed there were no operational impacts as a result of the incident. An unnamed military official summed it up simply: “Weird stuff happens.”
