A warning has been issued to those looking to supplements and other similar ways to lose weight, after hundreds of people reported scam emails purporting to sell health products. The National Fraud & Cyber Crime Reporting Centre, Action Fraud, said it had received more than 300 of these reports.
The emails reportedly claimed to offer a variety of products that can help with losing weight. Action Fraud said: "The links in the emails lead to malicious websites that are designed to steal personal and financial information."
Action Fraud shared its warning in a tweet on January 25, urging people to 'watch out' and also shared advice on what to do if you come across one of these emails. The guidance said that if you have any doubts about a message, you should contact the organisation directly.
