Here’s an early look at the fantasy players you’ll be targeting off the waiver wire this week. None of these players are rostered in more than 50% of Yahoo! leagues. The actual Yahoo! ownership percentage is included in parentheses. Players are listed from the most owned to the least owned after Sunday’s games. Be sure to check out Jen Piacenti’s expanded list of waiver-wire players every Tuesday!
Antonio Gibson, RB, Commanders (56%)
I usually don’t write up players rostered in more than 50% of leagues, but I’ll make an exception with Gibson. That’s because Brian Robinson Jr. suffered a bum hamstring and was forced out of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins, so Gibson is next in line for touches. The Commanders are off next week, however, so adding Gibson (or Chris Rodriguez) won’t help if you’re in need of immediate fantasy assistance.
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Patriots (40%)
The Patriots lost Rhamondre Stevenson due to an injured ankle, which left Elliott as the team’s top back. He put up decent totals against the Chargers, rushing for 52 yards on 17 carries while catching four passes for 40 yards. New England lacks offensive weapons, so Zeke could be a viable flex if Stevenson misses any time. Early reports suggest he could be out a few weeks due to this recent ailment.
Noah Brown, WR, Texans (40%)
Brown didn’t do a thing in a win over the Broncos, catching no passes on two targets in the contest. Still, he’ll be a popular waiver wire add with Tank Dell being placed on injured reserve with a broken fibula. Remember, Brown had posted a combined 51.5 points in two games before he was injured and he should see an expanded role. With that said, Brown will be a popular add off the waiver wire among wideouts.
Curtis Samuel, WR, Commanders (39%)
Samuel can be tough to trust, but he’s still a worthwhile add off the wire ahead of Week 14. The veteran has seen a combined 17 targets in his last two games, and he’s also scored a combined 29.5 points in those contests. The Commanders will continue to throw the ball a ton, so Samuel always has a chance to produce. The team does have a bye next on the schedule, but he’s worth an add and stash.
Gerald Everett, TE, Chargers (39%)
The tight end position is anything but deep, so the fact that Everett has scored a combined 22.7 points in his last two games is notable. He also has a plus matchup next on the schedule, as Everett faces a Broncos defense that’s been one of the most generous to tight ends. If you’re in need, the veteran is well worth a look.
Tyjae Spears, RB, Titans (35%)
Spears is going to be the hottest add in fantasy football this week. Derrick Henry left Sunday’s loss to the Colts early due to a head injury, and if he lands in concussion protocol, the veteran could miss next week’s game against the Texans. That would make the explosive and talented Spears an attractive starter in fantasy leagues.
Roschon Johnson, RB, Bears (21%)
Johnson had a bye this weekend, but he was the lead back for Chicago in his last game and finished with 12.5 points. While D’Onta Foreman missed that game and could be back to face the Lions, it’s still worth taking a shot on the rookie at what is a thin position. Who knows, maybe the Bears will look to utilize Johnson more often down the stretch to see if he might be their top running back of the near future.
Brevin Jordan, TE, Texans (15%)
Jordan played a bigger role in the Texans offense without Dalton Schultz, and he looked good with five targets and nearly 10 fantasy points while playing 51 snaps. If Schultz is unable to return for next week’s plus matchup against the Jets, Jordan would be worth a look off the wire for those fantasy managers in need at tight end.
Jalin Hyatt, WR, Giants (4%)
Hyatt is coming off his best game in the NFL, catching five passes for 109 yards for 15.9 fantasy points in a Week 12 win over the Patriots. The Giants have nothing to play for the rest of the season, so it makes sense for coach Brian Daboll to see what he has in his rookie wideout. The Giants are back off a bye, so Hyatt is worth a look.
Jameis Winston, QB, Saints (1%)
Fantasy managers in need of a quarterback might want to take a shot on Winston this week. Starter Derek Carr was injured in a loss to the Lions and was unable to finish the game, leaving Winston to be the next in line under center. He’s a volatile quarterback to say the least, but quarterback is paper thin across the leagues.
