Scots woman dies hours into Benidorm holiday with wife after tragic accident

A Scots woman has died in a tragic accident in Spain just hours after arriving for a holiday with her wife.

Marie Riley, 37, passed away after an incident in the Spanish town of Benidorm on Monday, March 7.

Her heartbroken wife Lynne announced the news to friends and family on social media the next day, prompting an outpouring of responses from friends and family.

First picture of Dundee 'murder victim' as tributes paid to Scots dad-of-two

A Scots dad-of-two found dead in a property in Dundee has been named locally as Graeme Hutcheson.

Earlier today Police Scotland charged a 32-year-old woman in connection with his death.

The 33-year-old's body was found within a house in Whitfield Avenue in the city at around 11pm on Monday, March 7.

Nicola Sturgeon confirms plan for independence referendum next year in wake of Russia's Ukraine invasion

Nicola Sturgeon has repeated her commitment to an independence referendum in 2023 in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

And in what may be interpreted as a dig at the UK Government, the First Minister also said she wanted an independent Scotland to be a country that "welcomes refugees".

Sturgeon has previously said she believes indyref2 should take place before the end of next year, covid permitting.

Drivers 'shout at staff' at Scots petrol station after being charged £2 per litre

Furious Scots have been expressing their outrage over recent price hikes in fuel - but drivers in Edinburgh resorted to shouting at staff at one garage after being charged £2 per litre for diesel.

Motorists at a Shell garage at Fairfield in Broxburn flew into a rage after the garage increased the price for diesel from 179.9p at the start of the week - to 199.9p per litre on Wednesday.

An infuriated customer even reached out to express his dismay, arguing he only noticed the price hike once staff had finished filling up his car.

Two killers who executed Kenny Reilly in gangland hit slapped with 'super Asbos’

Two killers have become the first Scots serving life sentences to be hit with so-called "super Asbos" after they were found guilty of a gangland execution.

Darren Eadie, 30, and John Kennedy, 41, were convicted last month of murdering Kenny Reilly in Maryhill, Glasgow , on April 16, 2018.

Kennedy was ordered to serve a minimum of 26 years for the shooting , while Eadie was handed 24 years.
