The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a spell of rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across large parts of the country between August 25 and 31, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in several states spanning northwest, central, east, northeast, west and south peninsular India. Gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph are also expected in some regions during this period.
