Weather tomorrow: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a wide-ranging weather alert for tomorrow, warning of intense monsoon activity across several regions of the country along with thunderstorms, gusty winds, and isolated heatwave conditions in parts of North India. The forecast shows highly active weather systems affecting both coastal and inland states.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall alert in multiple regions
According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over:
Coastal Karnataka
Konkan and Goa
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim
In addition, heavy rainfall is also expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka, central Maharashtra and Marathwada. Authorities have advised caution in flood-prone and low-lying areas due to the possibility of waterlogging and disrupted transport.
Thunderstorms with gusty winds across North, Central and East India
The weather tomorrow forecast also highlights widespread thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching 40–50 kmph over:
Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In several other regions including Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, West Bengal and Sikkim, thunderstorms with winds of 30–40 kmph are expected.
IMD has also warned of thundersqualls in Bihar, with wind speeds reaching 50–60 kmph and gusting up to 70 kmph, indicating potentially severe weather conditions.
Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow: Thunderstorms likely
For Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow, IMD has predicted isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds up to 50 kmph. Similar conditions are likely in parts of Haryana and Punjab, with temporary disruptions possible during storm activity.
Residents are advised to avoid open spaces during lightning events and secure loose objects due to strong winds.
Mumbai weather tomorrow: Continued monsoon spells
Mumbai is expected to remain under active monsoon influence. IMD has forecast widespread rainfall over north Konkan, with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places.
The city may continue to witness intermittent rain spells following recent heavy showers, keeping conditions wet and humid.
Northeast India to see sustained heavy rain
Widespread rainfall is likely to continue over the northeastern states including: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
The region remains under active monsoon conditions, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several pockets over the coming days.
Heavy rain warning for west and south India
The IMD has also flagged continued intense rainfall activity over:
Konkan and Goa
Coastal Karnataka (heavy to very heavy rain)
Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh
Interior Karnataka, central Maharashtra and Marathwada
Strong surface winds are also likely along the coastal Karnataka belt.
Bihar, Odisha and eastern India under rain and storm watch
Heavy rainfall is expected over Bihar and Odisha, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning activity.
Bihar in particular may experience thundersqualls with winds up to 70 kmph, making it one of the most active weather zones in the country for Thursday.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with persistent wet conditions over the next few days.
Heatwave persists in parts of North India
Despite widespread monsoon activity, IMD has warned that heatwave conditions may continue in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.
Warm night conditions are also likely in parts of Jharkhand, adding discomfort in already humid weather conditions.
Monsoon update: system continues to advance
IMD noted that the northern limit of the southwest monsoon currently passes through Dahanu, Wardha, Raipur, Daltonganj and Motihari.
Conditions remain favourable for further advancement into Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh over the next two to three days. The monsoon is also expected to cover remaining parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and expand into Uttar Pradesh in the coming days.

IMD has advised people in affected regions to stay updated with local weather warnings. In rain-hit areas, caution is advised due to possible flooding and poor visibility, while in heatwave zones, avoiding prolonged outdoor exposure is strongly recommended.
