The Met Office has issued two “danger to life” warnings across England and Wales as Brits were warned not to travel in weather conditions brought on by Storm Ciarán.
The amber warnings were issued for the south west and south east of England and parts of Wales on Thursday. South Wales and the South West of England will also be placed under a yellow alert on Wednesday as the regions face widespread disruption.
“Amber weather warnings issued. Very strong and damaging winds associated with Storm Ciarán bringing travel disruption. Large waves may also bring coastal impacts,” the Met Office said.
It comes as the London North Eastern Railway warned people against travelling on Thursday and Friday due to the likelihood of severe delays and cancellations.
“We strongly advise customers to avoid travelling on Thursday 2 November and Friday 3 November. Some LNER trains will be running, but there is likely to be major disruption including severe delays, short-notice cancellations and overcrowding,” the operator said.
