Weather forecast for Greater Manchester as country set to be hit by cold snap

While we’ve enjoyed a mild weekend across Greater Manchester, it’s predicted more cold weather is on the way.

We saw plenty of wintry sunshine across all boroughs today, and while the dry weather is set to continue into tonight, temperatures are expected to fall to -1C, bringing the odd patch or mist or fog along with it.

Any fog patches will clear as we head into Monday morning, leaving another dry and bright day with plenty of sunshine. Winds will stay light and temperatures will remain around average for February, with highs of 7C and lows of 0C.

Tuesday is set to be a cloudy day with the chance of some light rain or drizzle moving in from the north west. There will be highs of 8C and lows of 2C.

Wednesday will have a cloudy start but will gradually brighten throughout the afternoon. The day is expected to remain dry for most although mist is likely, with highs of 7C and lows of 2C.

Thursday could see drizzle and a gentle breeze, with highs of 8C and lows of 2C. The rest of the week will remain bright and sunny, reaching highs of 9C on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and lows of 3C.

Elsewhere in the UK, weather experts have urged the public to stay warm as temperatures are set to plummet way into the minuses.

The Met Office and UK Health Security Agency on Saturday put out a warning running from 6pm on Sunday until 6pm on Tuesday as the country is set to freeze in icy temperatures.

The UKHSA has instructed the public to put the central heating on at 18C just to stay safe as the recent spring-like conditions are replaced by cold air from Europe, sparking nationwide frosts from tonight.

Over the next few days, a -6C chill is expected to span 1,000-miles across the country, with frost covering all parts of England.

Nights are expected to be the coldest as long clear spells are set to bring freezing cold temperatures.
