Weather is wreaking havoc on the final regular season event of the PGA Tour schedule.
Two separate rain delays halted play, caused myriad disruptions during the third round of the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. The first rain delay lasted an hour and five minutes, the second starting at 4:15 p.m. ET and ending play for the day. The second delay nearly ended at 6:40 p.m. ET, as players were in position to begin play, but a lightning strike extended the delay and ultimately ended the day. Only 12 players finished.
The third round will resume at 7:30 a.m. ET Sunday.
With a record 87 players making the cut, if play is not able to conclude Sunday, the Wyndham Championship could be headed for a Monday finish. It would be the first PGA Tour event with a Monday finish since the 2022 Players Championship in March.
Shane Lowry, who went home Friday after thinking he would miss the cut, dialed up the private jet Saturday morning and arrived with time to spare before his third-round tee time.
Meanwhile, Will Zalatoris and his caddie went their separate ways between rounds, and Zalatoris fired his second-straight round of 66 to move up the leaderboard.
There are 10 players within two shots of the lead heading to Sunday.

Here are five takeaways from the suspended third round of the Wyndham Championship:
Sungjae Im, Brandon Wu tied at the top
There’s plenty of golf left to be played, but one of the pre-tournament favorites is looking for another PGA Tour victory.
Sungjae Im was in the midst of a strong round before the horn sounded, moving into a tie of the lead at 12 under. He is 4 under thru 11 and birdied the par-4 11th.
However, Brandon Wu, who is also tied at the top, had an even better 11th hole. Seconds before the horn sounded, he holed out from 146 yards for eagle to tie the lead.

Wu is 3 under on his round, and he is 3 under in his past two holes after going out in even par.
Plenty in the mix looking for first win
In the mix of the 10 players within two shots of the lead are numerous players searching for their first career victory.
Wu finished tied for second at the Mexico Open at Vidanta and tied for third at the Puerto Rico Open, but he has yet to find the winner’s circle.
John Huh and J.H. Kim are tied for third at 11 under, and neither have won on the PGA Tour before. Kim, who has six international victories, finished third at the Genesis Scottish Open and seventh at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Kim, 20, is playing on a Special Temporary Membership and is looking to secure his card for next season.
Two shots back at 10 under are Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Davis Riley and Anirban Lahiri are also all in pursuit of their first victory.
Aphibarnrat goes low
Speaking of Aphibarnrat, he vaulted into contention with an excellent round of 7-under 63. That’s his lowest round in his PGA Tour career.
Aphibarnrat opened with a 2-over 72, but he rebounded with a 5-under 65 in the second round before his low round of the day on Saturday. His round included seven birdies and no bogeys.
He’s on the outside looking in when it comes to the FedEx Cup playoffs, essentially needing a victory to make it in the field of 125.
Joseph Bramlett with an ace
The last two Wyndham Championships had an ace. C.T. Pan in 2020 during the final round and Chesson Hadley last season as he came down the stretch to secure his spot in the playoffs.
Well, now the tournament had its third in a row.
Joesph Bramlett hit an 8-iron on the par-3 16th and cashed in the hole-in-one for the first of his Tour career.

Examining the bubble
There has been plenty of movement along the FedEx Cup playoff bubble, but the two players who have made the biggest jump as of now are Max McGreevy and Brian Stuard.
McGreevy is at No. 113, well inside the number, at 8 under. He has jumped 13 spots from the beginning of the week.
Stuard, however, is up 17 spots. He’s in the group sitting at 10 under and two shots behind the leaders. He sits at No. 120 and needs to finish strong to make the playoffs.
Justin Lower is in the final position, as of now. He’s in a tie for 23rd at 6 under
Those on the outside looking in are Rickie Fowler (No. 126), Matt Wallace (No. 127) and Austin Smotherman (No. 128). All three missed the cut and need a lot of help to make the playoffs.
