LUCKNOW: Reiterating that Covid-19 cases may increase in the days to come and therefore prevention is of paramount importance, chief minister Yogi Adityanath urged people of the state to follow the prevention protocol in the best interest of children.
“Special care needs to be taken as children are taking ill because of the virus. Steps must be taken to ensure that the children are saved from falling sick,” the CM said reviewing the pandemic situation in the state on Monday.
As many as 210 new cases and 132 recoveries have been recorded in the past 24 hours. With this, the total number of active cases in the state reached 1,277. Of the total active cases, Gautam Budh Nagar (656), Ghaziabad (273) and Lucknow (70) account for the maximum burden.
Official data indicates that over 22% of the total active cases are children below 18 years of age. Citing the data, the CM said that surveillance, testing and monitoring should be kept in the top gear in the high burden districts. “The administration in the high burden districts must ensure that the people wear masks, while police must emphasise on importance of prevention through use of public address system,” the CM told officials.
The CM also lauded the role of health care workers in the management of Covid-19 situation in the state. He also appreciated those working for immunisation.
Official data shows that more than 31.5 crore doses have been administered in the state. More than 87% of the adult population has taken two doses of the vaccine, while 63% of the adolescents in the 15-17 years are fully vaccinated.
