Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Joe Gomez was replaced as a precaution after the defender appeared to suffer an injury against Real Madrid.
The England international endured a difficult night against the La Liga giants as they recovered from 2-0 down to run out 5-2 winners. Replaced in the 73rd minute by Joel Matip, the 25-year-old was seen clutching his hamstring as he headed straight down the tunnel.
Speaking after the game, Klopp confirmed the defender had felt something before revealing that Liverpool will assess the issue tomorrow.

“Yeah, we will see,” the German told reporters. “He showed a little bit of a sign so we just made a decision. Now we will see. He will get checked tomorrow.”
Gomez has made 29 appearances so far this season but if has suffered a hamstring injury, he will join Ibrahima Konate on the sidelines. Virgil van Dijk, who has only just returned from six weeks out with a similar issue, and Joel Matip would be the Reds’ only available senior centre-backs as a result as Liverpool now prepare for Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
Klopp is expected to offer a further update on the defender later this week at his next pre-match press conference.
