London Scottish have snapped up released Bristol Bears prop Rhys Charalambous.
The versatile prop, who can play on both sides of the front row, joined Bristol from Leeds Beckett University after an impressive spell in BUCS Super Rugby but after just a year at the club he was released this month having struggled for game time at the Bears with Ellis Genge, Jake Woolmore and Yann Thomas ahead of him.
Charalambous, 24, was sent out on loan to Championship side London Scottish at the end of the 2022/23 season and did enough in the final three games of the campaign, all wins, to earn a contract at the club.
London Scottish director of rugby Bryan Redpath said “Rhys joined London Scottish for a short period on loan last season and we were all immediately impressed with his skills and attitude. I was delighted when the opportunity to sign him for the full season arose and cannot wait to see him in action.”
Speaking on signing for the club, Rhys said: “I’m excited to get started with Scottish after my loan spell at the end of last season, hopefully, we can emulate what we did in those last three games to give us a solid platform to play on and compete in the Championship.”
