'We want to show' - Wolves defender warns Everton of 'change' ahead of Premier League return

Hugo Bueno has warned Everton that his Wolves side are leaving no stone unturned as they prepare for their Premier League return.

The Blues welcome Wolves to Goodison Park on Boxing Day as both sides get back to work following the break for the World Cup. Both clubs last played a competitive game back in November.

Everton will come into the game on the back of three straight defeats. First, they were beaten by Leicester City, before the Blues were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Bournemouth.

Frank Lampard’s side returned to the Vitality Stadium just five days later for a Premier League clash, but it was the same outcome for the Blues, who were beaten 3-0. That result left Everton just one point and one place above the drop zone.

Wolves, who are currently in Marbella, sit bottom of the table, four points behind Everton. However, the match at Goodison will be Julen Lopetegui’s first in charge of the Molineux club following his appointment as Bruno Lage’s successor last month.

“We are working a lot on that, in every training session,” Bueno replied when asked about his side picking up the tactics and thought process of their new boss.

"With our commitment and the tactics the coach said to us, we are in a good way, so the training sessions have been brilliant with all the players. We have to keep working like this and hopefully we can win the next game.”

Bueno’s comments come just days after Wolves defender Nathan Collins warned Everton that his side are ready to show the Premier League how good they are when the action returns later this month.

He said: “We know what we have to do, but we’re looking forward to getting going again. I’m buzzing to get back.

“Being back with the group, getting the friendlies in, you just want the real games to start now. We want to show everyone how good we are and what we can do, the work we’ve put in. We want to change where we are.”
