Michael Owen believes the time has come for Liverpool to do some 'soul-searching' following their defeat to Brighton.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side produced a blistering second-half performance to thump Liverpool 3-0 at the Amex on Saturday afternoon. The win moved Brighton above the Reds in the Premier League table.
Solly March's double and a late Danny Welbeck strike were enough for the Seagulls. The defeat loss Liverpool's hopes of finishing in the the top four hanging by a thread.

VERDICT: What Jurgen Klopp did to away end speaks volumes as Liverpool manager left shell-shocked
“Liverpool need to do some soul-searching at the moment, find a way of bouncing back to what we all know they’re capable of,” former Reds striker Owen told Premier League Productions post-match.
“We’ve seen it this season, we’ve absolutely seen it. They’ve beaten Manchester City 1-0, Bournemouth 9-0, they’ve been good in the Champions League, they’re into the next round of that.
“But we’ve also seen an inconsistency creep in. In fact, it’s now more consistent that they play poorly than they play well. So, you could argue that they’re more consistent than we give them credit for, but not for the right reasons!”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted afterwards the results represented a new low in his managerial career.
Klopp said: “I had really nice moments doing that but, I’m not sure if it’s because it’s only a few minutes since the game, but I can’t remember a worse game.
“I honestly can’t and I mean all (my career) not only Liverpool and that’s my responsibility. So that makes it a really low point.”
