It is said to be one of the best Leeds chippys that people will travel across Yorkshire for.
Murgatroyds is well known for its "beautiful" fish and chips which people will queue up to an hour for - so what better day to try it out than Good Friday?
The chippy attracts visitors from as far as Bradford and Halifax and customers have previously told LeedsLive they would be happy to queue up to an hour for a meal. One said: "Murgatroyds is one of the best" and another stuck in a queue said: "The wait will be worth it eventually."

So at prime time (5.30pm) on Good Friday, I made my way to the back of the 15-minute queue to get my hands on what I thought could be the best fish and chips I've ever eaten.
For me, fish and chips is a staple seaside meal and one I only usually save for then. If I'm getting a takeaway from close to where I live I won't lie I tend to go for a sausage, chips and gravy. (I know, I know). However, I've been told the fish and chips is a must, and I watched Danny Malin's most recent Rate My Takeaway video where he made another visit to Murgatroyd's.
Danny first reviewed the Yeadon chippy a while ago now but after being told to go back, he returned and posted the video on Thursday night - just before Good Friday. Danny ordered "The big one," chips, beans, curry sauce and gravy. He described the fish as "beautiful" and I'd have to agree.
After battling my way through the queue and waiting ten minutes, as is to be expected considering how busy it was, I drove home and sat down to eat my meal. Also while I'm on the topic of time scales, I'd much rather it take a bit longer to get my food. The wait is more likely to be worth it when it is fresh and this was no exception.
I ordered the small haddock fillet and small chips - despite the name, the portions were mighty and I struggled to finish it off so I'm very happy with my choice.

The fish itself was soft but the batter held its own, staying crunchy and providing a bit more texture to the chips below. The chips were salty - but not too much and of course, there were plenty of them and plenty of vinegar to stop the food from drying out. Despite the 15-minute journey home the food stayed warm and I washed it down with a can of diet coke and a sugary cup of tea made at home.
The bill came to just over £10 for the meal and the drink which I thought was brilliant value for money considering how lovely the food was. The only downside was that I wasn't sat on a bench at the seaside eating it.
The bill
Meal for plus can of coke: £10.05.
