Sometimes, after a long day at work, you just want to eat something simple and uncomplicated because you don't want to sweat over a hot stove cooking up a storm.
That's where quiches are the ideal midweek tea because they're reasonably cheap, delicious - and even King Charles III approves.
There are so many flavours to choose from in your local supermarket, but cheese and onion is one that never fails to impress because, despite the fact it's plain, it's still delicious.
Emma Gill from the Manchester Evening News decided to put nine quiches to the test - from Asda, M&S, Lidl, Aldi, and Sainsbury's - and two each from Tesco and Morrisons, both of which had a budget version available as well as an own brand.
Of the initial appearance, Emma wrote: "They all came in similar size boxes, mostly covering the quiche itself, but three having a little 'look at me' cellophane window to see the product inside - one being Aldi's 'new look' Crestwood quiche.
"Out of the boxes and you can see the difference - in shape, colour, and chive content.
"While three - from Sainsbury's, Asda and M&S - are perfectly round with a more sunken appearance to the filling, the other six have the traditional crimped edge to the pastry.
"Lidl's was the darkest on top, making it look a little too rubbery. It was that one along with Aldi's that appeared to have the thickest crust."
She also noted that they may look different in size, but each quiche is 400g, which should be enough to serve four people.
Emma shared that they may all be cheese and onion - but this doesn't mean that they all taste the same.
"There are different cheeses at play, differing amounts of onion and chive and some - Morrisons, Asda, and Lidl - with no chives at all", Emma said.
"The first two (Morrisons and Asda) were actually pretty tasty overall and you could see the visible chunks of Red Leicester in the Asda one.
"The Lidl one, on the other hand, was a little too bland, and that rubbery top did nothing for the texture.
"Budget versions from Morrisons (Savers) and Tesco (Eastman's) were also lacking in flavour somewhat - a distinct lack of cheese compared with the others.
"A few of them - Sainsbury's, Asda and M&S - we found to be a bit too overpowering with the onion, with bigger chunks visible in the latter two. If you like your onion, you'll love these.
"But it was two others that share the title of tastiest of all - Tesco's - featuring cheddar, Red Leicester and double cream - and Aldi's triple cheese, featuring West Country vintage cheddar, mature cheddar and Red Leicester.
"If you factor in price too, it has to be Aldi, one of the cheapest at £1.99, that takes the winner's crown. A quiche fit for a king indeed."
